Read and Learn - Live and Learn
Once again the Chicago weather put our sketch group's outing in jeopardy but, once again, in true Chicago fashion, the weather changed. The sun came out just in time. It was a gorgeous afternoon!
We met today at what I've always called "Caldwell Lily Pond Park". The group sketched here last summer. We enjoyed it so much we decided to return this summer. Today I read the sign (imagine -read and learn) and the name is actually "Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool".
What's that they say, "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet"? Well, this place, no matter what you call it, is beautiful and a perfect place to sketch!

Just lovely!
ReplyDeleteYour journals are so inspiring... I love the dragon fly and the lily close up... your greens are so summery.
ReplyDeleteGee.... I'm in awe of your 2 pages. Amazing all the variations you've captured with greens. I love the page with the 3 little boxes - a nice reminder to me that you don't have to fill the page with one painting. Nice to have the variety. Then the pond painting is just beautiful. You've done a great job of creating depth in the picture. It makes me want to take a walk and explore the area more.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! Your sketches, layouts and lettering are a great inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a beautiful place by your sketching no matter what it's called.
ReplyDeleteBarbara! I can't begin to tell you how beautiful all these greens are--you managed to vary them so subtlely and they are fabulous. Just stunning. I am so impressed.
ReplyDeleteMy golly - you're a master of the greens.
