To Everything There is a Season

These are the last of the zinnia and marigold from the deck. There are a few mums and pansies out there now. The garden (I use the term loosely) was great this year. I don't know, it seemed to thrive on benign neglect.

Drawing and sketching, however doesn't work that way. I bought the book One Drawing a Day by Veronica Lawlor, whose work I love, and hope to work my way through it. I'm looking to loosen up and just do it and enjoy it. I think doing a quick lesson a day will help. This is lesson 2, working with dip pens and ink. I never use dip pens but I really had fun with this. I couldn't resist adding color!

  1. Are you recommending Lawlor's book; it's on my wish list but has very few reviews.

  2. Love it! I also bought her book, and even took it with me on the road, but I haven't had time to do anything yet. I keep reading it on planes, and enjoying it, but alas...I'll start it when I can! Meanwhile, I'll enjoy your work!

  3. I love the book. There are tips rather than instructions for each of the suggested exercises. If you're looking for detailed "how to" this may not be the book for you. The illustrations are spectacular and worth the price of the book!

  4. Thanks for the recommendation. I love ideas lots more than exercises so it sounds like a book to buy and enjoy.
